The Real Power of Visualisation: Stepping into the Frequency of Your Goals
Honestly, I’d done it all. Vision boards, affirmations, repeating intentions like a broken record, yet somehow, the big, hairy, audacious goals stayed in that maddening “almost-but-not-quite” zone.
I was a master of manifesting... in theory. The vision board was immaculate. The intentions? I could recite them in my sleep. But when it came to turning dreams into reality? Don't think I didn't take action, I'm Miss bloddy Action Jaxson. It was like the universe ghosted me. My juiciest goals sat on the horizon, taunting me like a distant island I couldn’t quite swim to.
And that’s when I discovered how to really put the whole ' it’s not enough to just think it; you’ve gotta feel it' thing into action to the point that it's a whole nervous system affair too.
Not just as an abstract daydream but as a raw, real, live-it-till-you-ache sensation in your body. Because the truth is, “hoping” and “wishing” are great, but if you’re not somatically stepping into the skin of your future self, your mind’s just playing dress-up.
It was time to go deeper. To walk, talk, and feel like I’d already arrived. To get so visceral with my vision that my body didn’t know the difference between what was and what would be.
It’s like a cheat code, really, showing up as if, until your body, mind, and every cell in between catch up and start acting like it’s already done.
Because here’s the secret: when you vibe with your dreams so hard it feels like a déjà vu, it’s only a matter of time until reality wakes up and matches that frequency.
I literally asked the universe my higher self, whatever the heck you call it. "How do I do this"? It delivered in a big way! Keep reading to find out.
Potent Manifestation Work
It’s about tapping into the body’s intelligence and resonating with the actual frequency of what we want to bring into our lives. This is where the power of visualisation and somatic embodiment comes in (together) feeling into your goals in a way that bridges the gap between dreams and reality.
To embody your goals and dreams, you need to experience them within your body first.
When you can actually feel the future, you begin to resonate with that experience in a way that is profoundly magnetic. This isn't simply daydreaming, it's creating a somatic imprint of what success, peacefulness, or fulfillment feels like to you.
And no one exemplifies this process more than Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, who used visualisation not just as a tool for success but as a foundation for how he approached his entire life as an athlete.
The Michael Phelps Visualisation Technique
Michael Phelps’s coach, Bob Bowman, introduced him to visualisation when he was still a young swimmer. Bowman taught Phelps that success begins in the mind and is strengthened by belief and confidence.
Every night before he slept and every morning when he woke up, Phelps would run a mental “tape” of himself swimming the perfect race, visualising every stroke, turn, and kick.
He imagined every detail, from the sound of the water to the feel of each movement. This practice created such an intense familiarity with his future race that his body already knew what to do, even before it hit the pool.
When the day came to compete, Phelps wasn’t swimming a race for the first time. In his mind and body, he’d already done it a thousand times over. He could swim without thinking because his mind and body were in sync with his goal. By immersing himself in the frequency of winning, he conditioned his body to act from that space of confidence and certainty.
One famous story showcases how deeply embedded this visualisation technique was. During one of his races, Phelps's goggles filled with water, leaving him unable to see. But rather than panicking, he kept swimming, relying on his mental "tape" to guide him to the finish line.
Because he’d visualised the race so vividly, he knew the number of strokes he needed to reach the end. Phelps won that race without ever seeing where he was going—a testament to the power of aligning body and mind through visualisation.
Embodying the Frequency of Your Goals
We can take a powerful lesson from Phelps’s story. When you visualise and somatically feel your goals, you teach your body how to “show up” for them, embodying the actions, confidence, and clarity required to achieve them.
Visualisation and feeling your goals in your body create neural pathways that help bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be. The nervous system doesn’t know the difference between a real and vividly imagined experience. So when you visualise with intense feeling, you’re conditioning your body to live in alignment with that frequency.
Here’s a way to start practicing this approach:
- Close your eyes, calm your busy mind and create a detailed mental picture of the goal you want to achieve. Imagine the environment, the sensations, and even the smells. Picture everything as vividly as possible.
- Feel it in your body. How would you feel if you were living this goal right now? Is there a feeling of excitement, warmth, or relaxation? Let that sensation spread, anchoring it into your nervous system.
- Let your emotions guide you. The most powerful visualisations involve emotion. Engage in the joy, pride, or peace that would come with achieving this goal.
- Stay consistent. Just as Phelps made visualisation a daily habit, consistency builds resilience in your body and mind. Practicing this daily creates a new “frequency” that aligns with your goals.
Don't worry I won't leave you Hanging - A Guided Journey of this Process Awaits You
After I finished my somatic healing certification, something clicked. I started to understand at a visceral, nervous system level of what it meant to activate the energy and frequency of your goals in your body. I've achieved many things I'm proud of in my life but when I really got this, everything accelerated and I feel I've taken it to the next level.
This year I have filled all of my face to face events with amazing authentic people (which was a business goal) as well as lose a shiz tonne of weight to be the lightest and most energetically vibrant I've been in over a decade (even though I'm 46 years young in 2 weeks).
I took what I had learned over the past 20 years in mind-body wellness and added in that somatic nervous system aspect, and created these guided journeys for myself.
I loved them so much and gained so many insights and results, I re-recorded them and shared them in the wake-up weight loss challenge hosted in July. Now I've added to them and repacked them just for you.
I'll pop the Link below if you'd love to discover more about understanding the power of the mind and re-programming your sub-conscious mind and your nervous system. CHECK IT OUT HERE
Turning Dreams into Reality
So we know manifesting your goals isn’t just about setting intentions, it’s about embodying the energy of what you want to achieve and allowing that frequency to guide your actions, emotions, and beliefs.
By visualising and somatically stepping into your goals, you prepare yourself to handle whatever challenges arise because, in a way, you’ve already lived through them.
Stepping into the frequency of your goals is about becoming the person you need to be to achieve them, just as Phelps became the swimmer he needed to be before he ever set foot on the Olympic stage.
Visualise, embody, and most importantly, trust in the power of your mind-body connection to bring you exactly where you want to go.
You've got this!
Much love and Bodily Wisdom
